Dear Ones,

The rains have finally arrived! It has been raining elephants and hippos! With the rains have come hordes of insects of every variety imaginable! The yellows and browns of the landscape so prevalent during the dry season have been replaced with the lush greens and rich browns of the rainy season. It is a beautiful sight to see.

Another beautiful sight to see has been the bright orange uniforms of the Zesco workers and their equipment lying around as they have begun to work on the property. On a recent morning,we heard them singing as they were working to raise the electrical poles. What remains to arrive now is the transformer. A few days before Christmas however, the Zesco workers came to get some of there equipment so that they could work on another site. They said they would return sometime within the first week of January so please continue to pray that they would complete the job of installing power at the village.

The most compelling part of our call to rescue orphans in Zambia was the knowledge that many, many children needed to hear the truth about the gospel, especially those who are vulnerable due to the loss of one or both of their parents. The physical needs of our children at the village are being met but we knew that the time had come to address their spiritual needs. Two weeks ago we began Hope Club which is a Bible club that meets once a week. Kimberly teaches the Bible lesson and sings songs with the children and the housemothers translate for her. Kimani and Malaika help with the games.

The Friday before Christmas we held a party at Hope Club where the children learned about the birth of Christ, played games, sang songs, ate snacks and played with balloon animals. It was a delightful time. On Christmas eve we fought the crowds and traffic in Lusaka as we ran errands. It felt like we were in the midst of the type of shopping frenzy that we experience back home in Delaware. On the day of Christmas it was a special time as we invited Pastor and Mary Zulu, their nieces and Chomba, a friendly gas attendant with his fiancée, to join us for dinner and fellowship.

Please continue to pray daily for the safety of the children at the village as they play outside. Today, our cat Natasha, killed a small poisonous snake just outside of the house where the children were playing. This is now snake number twelve since July when we moved to the village. Last week, Rose one of the house mothers, heard a commotion of sorts while she was on the veranda of the house. She looked over at the bag of charcoal where the noise was coming from, and saw a lizard run out from the bag with a baby snake chasing it. The lizard got away but unfortunately for his tail, it became the last meal of the snake. Rose was able to kill it because it was busy munching away!

Prayer needs:

1. Discernment and God's guidance in all aspect of the ministry as we begin the new year.
2. That the seed of God's word planted in the hearts of the children will take root and bring forth
salvation and much fruit in their lives.
3. Please pray that Kamau will not allow the constant demands of the ministry to hinder his daily
spiritual disciplines.

4. Pray that Kimberly will be diligent about faithfully teaching Hope Club.

Blessings to you all!

The Kamaus
